| I’m really chuffed with the way my latest label/brand development turned out.
Cloof Wine Estate needed a label for their first bottling of 100% Sauvignon Blanc (previously it was blended with Chenin to make Daisy Darling, another of my creations). Given that Sauvignon is not only “the taste of summer”, but also its “best accompaniment”, I couldn’t get too far away from concepts relating to summer. There are several great songs about the “easy livin” in summer, so I took a long shot and Googled ‘Summertime’. To my great surprise, no wine appeared to have been called this. I turned to my design collaborator, Nic Jooste, who went through what must have been a highly frustrating number of rejections. Eventually, he presented a design with the beautiful serif ‘S’ you see in the label alongside. However, visually it just seemed to be a bit clinical, so I asked him to hang a pink bikini off the end of the S. I love the finished result, which I think is a worthy entrant into Cloof’s family of brands. |
